Cromarty by jamibann

Cromarty

A final image from our cycling weekend - this is taken in Cromarty on Black Isle. You can see semi-submersible as well as jack-up drilling rigs. Obviously the operators of these rigs would rather they were not sitting idle, but they do make for rather a lovely image on that beautiful sunny Monday.
Quite splendid! They remind me, on a much smaller scale, of the oil rigs in the Irish Sea.

Love it! I usually see these giants from the other side of the firth when I'm on the train on my way to Mum's.
But I spent two very happy years teaching in Cromarty School when I graduated first, living with a dear lady and loving my job.
And planning a wedding! That is 40 years ago but it feels much less! We go and visit from time to time and in the summer there is a little ferry which crosses to Nigg on the other side. I crossed there with the workmen who were building oil platforms at that time.....on Monday morning and Friday afternoon. Happy days!

That is quite beautiful Issi. Fave from me. Love the perfection of the rigs & the balance you have here too plus it’s very interesting!

This is so intriguing -- a lot to look at, and a really well balanced composition.

Many interesting features to study in this pic. I've not seen anything like these myself. Beautiful setting they're in.

The rigs are bigger (longer) than I had imagined - pretty impressive
