Preparing the lobsterpots

June is the beginning of lobster season in Rhode Island. Here this colourful fellow is preparing the pots for going out to sea.

I’ve spent more than half my life in the Isle of Man...and fished much in local waters. We had a friend who was a lobster fisherman, tending his pots every day. The quality of the sea water was such that his catch was exported to Paris. Meanwhile we fished and caught cod off the west coast. Hook to plate, 1-2 hours!

I've never seen this part of the action. Only the pots stacked on a pier or boat. Nice shot.

These pots are quite different to those used here. I love our crayfish (lobster) but I'm not a fan of oysters :)
