I don't know about you, but I find that early January is the most difficult period of time. The highs and general busyness of December is behind us and a new year looms large in front of us. I find it difficult to get motivated, and the weather doesn't help. It's dark. It's wet. It's cold. It's snowy. It's melting. It's icy. It's gloomy. Things haven't started up yet ... no Pilates, no Highland Hustle, no golf, ... just me to motivate myself. But, I know it will pass, I know how lucky I am, and I know that by next week I'll be back into the old routine, finding 365 images everywhere, walking into those hills, feeling motivated and excited about things to come and planning adventures. So, here's to next week, and in the meantime, here's a little robin thinking about where his next worm is coming from.
Oh, and by the way, if you haven't read 'Lessons in Chemistry' by Bonnie Garmus, give it a try. I loved it.
That does sound difficult. Here January is summertime, beach time and everyone is on holiday. Very different and generally a time people look forward to.
It must be tricky to remain motivated when the weather is so cold. We are lucky, I guess, to have summertime Christmases and can get away to the beach or go camping for part of January if we want to. A sweet image of the robin and thanks for the book recommendation.
Beautifully captured. I find it tricky too - the gloom and darkness and having to deal with stuff again after what is usually a respite from real life. But wise words - the feeling pssses and things move on. And the book sounds good.
What a lovely little fella. The bright side of January is that you can snuggle under a blanket, and read to your heart’s content without feeling guilty
I remember the first time I saw a Robin from your side of the pond and how dainty they look compared to ours. I love your narrative and feel the same. I always feel a bit blue at new year's start. Fortunately, the sun came out today and I headed to my body balance class. Thanks for the wee Robin pick me up!
A great capture of the robin. Very clear. One of the advantages of enjoying solitary, sedentary activities. They go on, rain or shine, hot or cold, night and day. But I understand the strangeness of time after the Christmas holidays.
A Robin is always welcome! I know exactly how you feel. I am very unmotivated & H & I are finding the days very long at the moment….boringly long. Harry hates it when he can’t do jobs outside, o grass mowing etc & I’m having to stay in a bit at the moment & not walking either! We are warm, comfortable & well fed so count your blessings Pat. We are fed up of our own company! There could be some failings out!🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for the book recommendation.
Super image, and I know just how you feel. I've resorted to relying on a quick phone pic recently, and today one from the archives!
Lessons in chemistry is on my list!
Summer here but I am still finding it difficult to get motivated after my break of a few weeks. I will get cracking again with photos but still got lots of other projects on the go too.
Thanks for the book suggestion! I just went out to the sunflower e-library, sampled the audiobook version of it and put a hold/request for the next available copy. Sweet little Robin.
@happypat Ha ha ... it comes to us all, it seems! However, positive attitudes and 'this too will pass'. It's normal - we can't be happy and motivated every single day of our lives! John is a pain when he can't get out too, and I hate the grey days of winter! But onwards and upwards ... we are a quarter of the way through January, and the days are already lengthening ... :-)
I feel exactly the same in early January! Hopefully we'll both lift out of the funk quickly.
Lessons in chemistry is on my list!
Always good to get back to a rhythm.
