I think last week's Walking Festival must have taken it out of our local leaders and helpers as there were only 9 of us on our Monday walk yesterday.
It was my turn to lead, and this was our starting point, up past Braemar, in the valley of the Dee, near Mar Lodge. We'd just got out of the cars and Fiona was leaning against the viewpoint marker, waiting for everyone to get organised! We were lucky with the weather as the now daily downpour waited until we were back in the cars and on our way home.
Surprise of the day - I was up very early this morning, and glanced out an upstairs window as I headed for the stairs, to see a couple of roe deer running up the main road. It's not unusual to see deer hereabouts, but it's very unusual to see them in the village and even more unusual to see a couple running up the main road! Absolutely no time for a photo - they went past in a flash!
Nice shot of Fiona. We have wild deer causing havoc around the farms here and it is very tricky to get a shot of the,.. They have no respect for fences and cause the stock to panic..
Great photo and story. I saw a muntjack deer near where we live a couple of weeks ago, and we don't live in the country. It dashed past me on a green area between the houses, like it was in a race, and like you say, no time for a photo
I think Fiona is raring to get cracking. Walking poles at the ready & that big smile on her face too. Interesting to see that scenic photo post….a great idea to catch that wonderful view.
Great smile and confidence! I saw four turkeys crossing the road on Sunday morning- same thing- not enough time to grab the camera, only enough time to think about how silly they looked! Good shot!
Fiona looks as though she is raring to go.
Great capture of Fiona with such a beautiful background.
