I've been wanting to create an herb bouquet, and today's the day! Bunched together in the water-filled mason jar, sage, lavender, parsley, oregano, tarragon, dill, lemon balm, globe basil, rosemary, and thyme smell divine! #simplepleasures #allisgrace
I didn't have a whole lot of time after snipping the herbs, but I did have a bit of fun playing with composition. Should I have included the red brick wall behind the bouquet? The sparkling mason jar? More of the antique stool? In the end, I preferred this image; because it made me want to bend down closer to sniff the heavenly fragrance of all those herbs!
How pretty! Though the plants are all in similar shades of green, there's such interest because of the variety of textures and shapes. I can well imagine how wonderful the arrangement smelled, in its own 'herby' way. All those other angles you talked about for this photo, they sound like good ones for a week's study of one object. I do like the brown wood texture you went with for this backdrop and the just shallow-enough DOF.
All those composition ideas would have worked. But what makes this shot better is that it is an unexpected pov. Very nice and I do wish I could smell it!
