From Anchorage, we set out on the legendary Parks Highway Scenic Byway toward Denali National Park and Preserve. Vibrant, edible fireweed lined the ribbon of asphalt winding through spectacular, iconic scenery. Here, just beyond the bright pink fireweed, stood rows and rows of thriving wild blueberry bushes. The berries were free for the picking and the eating!
I loved how the day's hazy light lent a painterly quality to this scene.
"Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul."
- John Muir, Scottish-American naturalist, author and philosopher
So very beautiful! My son lived and worked in Alaska one summer and took a vacation there too, and I really enjoyed his photos. He said he was able to tour a lot because it was summer.
My hubby is delighted to see your photo journal of Alaska; he travelled and painted there many years ago, and has told me about it often. I'm beginning to see why :)
@mothermalarky Thank you, Carol! I'm so glad you and your husband are enjoying the pictures and that they are bringing back fond memories for him. We had such a fun time on our trip. Alaska is pure magic!
