Afternoon Sun by janetb

Afternoon Sun

I had just finished arranging these freshly-snipped blooms when the afternoon sun came streaming in the window (seemingly on a mission to illuminate the hydrangea). Sometimes the camera is nearby when I need it. This was one of those times.
Great capture. It pays to keep the camera close because light changes so quickly. Like you I keep one of my cameras close! :>)

@nydelignorsk You're right! Within 5 minutes, the light was gone! I kept thinking it would return, but it didn't. I'm really thankful I have this image. Thank you for your kind comment!

Until I started here I never thought about what a role light plays in how we see things - this is really beautiful - love the shadows and the super focus on the hydrangea blossom - everything has such clarity.

@tellefella Thanks, John! The kitchen faces west, so that setting sun streams in each afternoon and lights up the table. It's always a treat!

@milaniet Thank you, Milanie! I had just finished arranging these little bouquets when the sun showed up, and I was thrilled that it landed smack dab on the hydrangea. 365 has really helped me to see so much more than I ever have before, and I'm so thankful!

So pretty, and especially remarkable when viewed on the black background.

@cejaanderson Thank you, Jane! I'm surprised at how many flowers are still blooming. I couldn't resist sprinkling small arrangements throughout the house today. It's amazing how a small bouquet has such big, cheerful impact in a room!

Such pretty colours and beautiful light.

Perfect lighting indeed. I like the light painted on the table behind as well. And I must mention those darling rusty hearts and curly-wires you've put around the Mason jars — they're fantastic!

@lyndemc Thanks for your detailed comment, Denise! The rusty embellishments were on the jars when I bought them years ago, so I can't take credit for adding them; however, I always appreciate you picking up on the little things in an image. I was thrilled that I had time to go outside and snip some blooms today to sprinkle throughout the house. I don't know how much longer it will be before the cold sets in and wreaks havoc on my gardens, so I'm trying to enjoy every single blossom!
