Goodnight, Strawberries. by janetb

Goodnight, Strawberries.

Goodnight, Lavender. Goodnight, Thyme. Kitchen garden plants that are hardy enough to make it through Winter have been put to bed under a blanket of fallen leaves and acorns compliments of Mother Nature. Stubborn strawberries are fighting sleep, pushing up new growth in relentless protest. Like toddlers, they’ll tucker out eventually.
It is sad to put your garden too bed! The strawberries are true fighters.

Love your commentary and the idea of tucking your herb to bed for the winter. How true that strawberries are like stubborn toddlers. I've got some grape hyacinths that are acting obstinate about the order of seasonal events. I've told them they're showing up just a tad early for spring.

What a lovely sign. I always feel a little sad when the garden is put to bed for the winter. We are still enjoying quite a few flowers in the garden which will survive until the first frost.

@lyndemc Haha...yes, these things happen in the garden for reasons that we cannot know. :-) Thank you for commenting. Reading your words is always a pleasure.

@paulaw Thank you, Paula! Yes, it is a bit sad. We still have a few flowers blooming in other gardens, but the kitchen garden that was brimming with herbs and veggies has seen better days and has been put to bed. The bright side is that I'm already planning what I'll plant in the kitchen garden next Spring! :-)

This is adorable - think just our mint survives - seems to flourish even. Like your title.
