The Apples by janetb

The Apples

On that tree hung with ornaments of gold and glass and silver and glitter and satin and sequins and a bit of lace, what has my heart are the old apples. They belonged to my Mom before they belonged to me, and she loved them despite their dents and twisted, frayed cords. I love them, too! Aren’t we all a bit dented and twisted and frayed and in need of love? (A Momma never really stops teaching her children heart lessons.)

I enjoyed playing with the Lensbaby Creative Aperture Optic (with the heart-shaped aperture disc) on my Lensbaby Composer Pro to capture this scene. I still find the Lensbaby a bit tricky to use, but I'm hopeful that it will become easier with more practice.
A sweet capture and lovely narrative.

How special to have some treasured ornaments to enjoy every year - they bring such wonderful memories. I have just one ornament passed down that still is unbroken - it belonged to my grandmother so it is over 100 years old. Hold my breath every year when I unpack to see if it has survived another year of storage. Do love the Christmas season.

Nice memories. We have a number of ornaments that are great memories. They are mostly hand me downs from my mom and others given to us over the years.

I don't have any of the creative aperture optic pieces — seeing all your delicious heart-shaped bokeh here makes me think I should be visiting the Lensbaby webpage. Isn't it precious, having something in our possession that was dear to our moms...

@paulaw Aww, thank you so much for your sweet comment, Paula. My Mom just loved the apples; and when she passed away, my sister and brother and I divided them up so we'd all have some for our trees. We all have such fond memories of my Mom's delight in hanging them on her tree each year.

@lyndemc Thanks for commenting! Yes, it is really special to have something that delighted our Moms. I treasure the apples. I'm glad you like the heart bokeh. You are quite good with the Lensbaby while I struggle a bit with it. I find it difficult to focus. I use Live View to help, but I still find it difficult. I take quite a few shots to get one I'm somewhat satisfied with, but I'm determined to keep practicing. And perhaps I'll get my vision checked. ;-)
