I rolled to a stop at a pasture on an unfamiliar road, and all the horses looked up; but this was the only one to make its way over to the fence to say hello. I buzzed the window down letting the cold air rush in and told those big, dark eyes just how special they were. Those windows to the soul revealed a calm and gentle nature; and before long, the friendly horse began grazing peacefully on what little grass peeked through snow. My country drive to refresh my spirit did just that. Winston Churchill spoke the truth when he said, “There's something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.”
I'm still focusing on tonal range and tonal contrast for Flash of Red February. I snapped this photo last week and converted it to black and white to study its tones. What fun! I like it best when viewed on the black background.
This is a real beauty, Janet. You've shown some terrific work on those tones. I feel like I'm right there with you looking at the horse - the detail is fabulous. I love that quote from Churchill that you put with this - how very true about most of nature. Really like the way you composed this. Fav.
