That’s the definition of terra cotta — baked earth. I like thinking of sticky grains of earth — clay —offered for shaping by human hands. Terra cotta flower pots bake hard and pretty all over the world. And have for centuries. I like rich history filled with rich soil. I like thinking of velvety moss clinging to damp pores and minerals coating rusty red surfaces chalky white. Outside in the Winter garden this afternoon, I caught sight of my old favorite terra cotta flower pot adorned with hand-formed terra cotta roses and the kiss of the sun.
After reading Chapter 3 of our Flash of Red February book, I chose the assignment to make 20 images of a subject from every conceivable point of view. I liked this one best.
Like the way you were able to bring out the shadows and details of the pot as well as the textures. Interesting choice to try that 20 shots with. Might have a go at that - just thought of something that stays put and I might try. :)
I really love the pov and crop and texture and light in this, fav for me. I also love old and organic things, their textures and the way light emphasizes those textures.
