After delivering Marley to the groomer on this wintry April morning, I treated myself to a Starbucks grande Bold. Through sleet-covered windshield and with cold hands wrapped around hot cup, I watched cars and people come and go in the busy parking lot while contemplating whether time permitted a peaceful drive through a nearby park to enjoy some natural beauty (however unseasonable).
Just then, my eyes switched focus; and I saw it. No longer looking through sleet-covered windshield but at sleet-covered windshield, I saw natural beauty right there in front of me. Tiny snowflakes melted immediately upon touching the warm glass and joined hands with waiting raindrops to perform a watery dance in shimmering light! I picked up the camera and began snapping (and experiencing the difficulty of capturing that which exists for merely an instant); and one hour later, I grabbed my cold cup of Bold and drove off feeling thankful for the delightful reminder that beauty exists everywhere!
(Do you see the snowflake? I'm so happy to have caught it, because it melted in a flash!)
Beautifully written to remind us that beauty is often right in front of us. Lovely shot, Janet - you can almost feel those flakes melting down the windshield.
Love that fragment of snowflake among the raindrops, and the way you described what was happening. Yes, beauty s everywhere, and photography helps you see so much that you didn't see before, that the world around you is never (well, hardy ever!) boring.
