For many reasons, I love this rather simple shot! As one of only a few shore birds that I can identify by name, laughing gulls always delight me and bring a smile to my face. Mike and I encountered this one along with a few of its friends as we walked around acquainting ourselves with the resort, and the group allowed us to get fairly close before bursting into flight. We watched them soar above the water while, hand in hand, we walked and talked and enjoyed the excitement of getting to know what would be our home away from home for the next few days!
