How do I know this is the bluebird of happiness? Because he sure made us happy when we discovered him preening in the oak today! We haven’t seen a bluebird on our property in nearly 15 years if my memory serves me right.
Bluebirds touch my heart. We first saw them on our property the day noisy machines rumbled up our hill to bring down the big trees standing where our new home would stand instead. Their reputation as symbols of happiness gave me a good feeling about the location we chose. I watched for them after we moved in, but not for about a year and a half did one show up again.
It happened in 2001 as I sat on a front porch rocker mourning the recent loss of my mother. She loved cardinals; and as one landed and explored the ground just beyond the porch railing in front of me, I felt her presence. I wondered if she sent the cardinal to comfort me and let me know all was well. Suddenly, a bluebird landed alongside the cardinal! I watched through tears as the bluebird and cardinal stood side by side, and I wondered no more. My Mom sent a message that morning on the wings of a cardinal and a traditional symbol of happiness — a bluebird. She was happy in Heaven! All was well.
@milaniet As I've commented many times while admiring your bluebird images, I love bluebirds. I've longed to see one on our property, and today was the day! I thought of you and how much joy your bluebird pictures bring me, so I thought I'd share this with you. I hope it brings you joy! :-)
Lovely photo and story Janet. I love bluebirds too and am fortunate that in recent years they come to visit my yard often - even in winter! There are some hardy ones here!
Oh my - bet he made your day. They are the sweetest little birds and he posed for you in such a nice spot - wonderful dof and love the greens for his setting.
Thank you for you visit and you so nice comment. Appreciate it very much.
