These creamy pearls open to form tiny flowers with pale yellow stamens. From the flowers come elderberries, and to the elderberries come birds! Scarlet tanagers sometimes show up to dine on the elderberries. We seldom see this species, so we’ll be watching closely once the berries ripen.
Love your story with this - lucky you to have the scarlet tanagers - think they're one of the prettiest birds. Haven't caught a good shot of one this year - just an occasional fly-by.
