Lavender's Blooming by janetb

Lavender's Blooming

The bees and I battled over the lavender blossoms this afternoon, but I managed to fill my gathering basket with just enough to bake a batch of lavender shortbread cookies. I recently received a bag of copper cookie cutters from my mother-in-law — the very copper cookie cutters she used to bake sugar cookies with Mike when he was a little boy! As I pressed the heart shape into the fragrant dough, I imagined his little hands doing the same about 50 years ago; and somehow these cookies will taste all the sweeter as a result!
How wonderful to have these precious cookie cutters and then to create this beautiful image to go along with the memory. :) I'm sure they were very yummy. :)

What a wonderful thought from your mother-in-law - and I know she knew how much you would cherish them because of their history. Bet it turned out some delicious cookies.

Clare has a couple lavender plants. I wondered about lavender as an herb or flavor!
