The Decision by janetb

The Decision

This picture intrigues me. When I see it on the computer screen once home from beautiful Cook Forest, I stare thoughtfully and wonder if I should keep it. Just a cast iron pot on the blackened old grill? Surely not. But what then?

I admire the orange flames and the shiny bail and the pretty light on the lid, yet I feel there's more. I take time to really look, and I find myself peering through the lid to the spicy chili bubbling beyond. My love gifted me this second pot because of how much I loved the first — the first one that's resting out of sight down deep in the heat with my first attempt at campfire cornbread baking and browning inside. We sat in our rocking chairs side by side and waited excitedly for our dinner. When we dug in, he slathered the cornbread with butter and said he loved it. I knew it was bland. He kept at it between spoonfuls of chili, and then we walked hand in hand beneath the man in the moon.

The decision comes easy.
I'm smiling...from your story! I'd keep it, too!
I think that's why we love photographs...they remind us of past experiences, people, smells, tastes, etc!
Thanks for reminding me!!

@thewatersphotos Thank you, Gary! Yes, you are right about the appeal of photographs. They remind us of the many gifts that the Lord bestows upon us each and every day!
