silent snow by jerome

silent snow

Do not touch this slope. When awakened, the white leads you into darkness, into eternal silence...

Snowshoe hike to the mountain Schrocken, Upper Austria.
This is spectacular and "furchterregend" at the same time!

I hope you are staying well clear Jerome. The simplicity of this awesome sight is wonderful and you present well, the instability of the poised snowfall.

January 14th, 2017
beautiful and ominous at the same time. Much better to photograph its beauty than to attempt to stand on it
January 14th, 2017
I bet there are skiers that would love to touch that slope!

A snowy mountain offers a gorgeous sight. The white dresses him new - not only through colour. Some forms become softer, some harder. Completely covered with snow, a mountain has a particular charisma - in pure white he develops a special magic in his sheer extent.
You might be touched by the powerful presence of such a slope, but do not touch him...

Thank you all for your kind comments! I am really pleased about your nice attentions to the beauties of the mountains.

It's tempting us Jerome is it not? Everything looks so safe and stable.
January 14th, 2017
At first glance I thought this was a piece of paper, not knowing the sense of scale, with some holes and tears in it. However I quickly realized this is a snow covered mountain peak! Great shot!
January 14th, 2017
Stunning and beautifully processed. Fav
January 14th, 2017
It does look rather stark and ominous. Cool minimalism.

Yes, I agree: the untouched snow is beautiful. It breathes perfection. - A perfection that only nature has. For some people it is sacred.
January 15th, 2017
BEAUTIFUL shot...Fav.
January 15th, 2017
"Only" black and white, but so much story and drama in this pic. Take care! Please.
January 15th, 2017
Deadly beauty if awakened! What a perfect image!
January 15th, 2017
@mona65
Yes - "only" black and white; and a few nuances. But in that case, I think it is right, even the black sky. This is the right decision for the pictorial statement (in my view).
Thank you for your nice visit!

And: I am careful with my hikes.

Urgh! Why can't I do this?!
January 17th, 2017
@debbyglynn Thank you for your nice comment!
I think sometimes it is in a picture about little things - like this bit of texture you mention. Such as preparing a good meal - when it depends on a pinch of salt...
