That's me in the photo :) .
I climbed the mountain Spitzkoppe. From there I had a good view of the foothills of the Kalahari desert.
I love deserts. For me, they are not desolate, not empty. For me they are full of beauty.
The bright line in the landscape - that is the road to Etosha.
I also love the desert. I lived in Northern New Mexico (high desert) for 32 years before moving to a rainforest in British Columbia. Its also nice to see the face behind the amazing photos.
You are the Austrian Springbok Jerome. I've given up telling you how accomplished your photography is. Like many fellow 365ers, I enjoy and admire every one of your shots. Good to put a face to the art at last. Fav by the way.
Absolutely lovely shot. I agree, deserts are full of life. I lived in Australia for a while and the way the desert comes to life so fast after the rare rains just shows you how much life is bursting just beneath the surface.
@chillen Thank you, Chillen! "Austrian Springbok" - :)
My photography - thank you very much for your compliments! It really honors me a lot. I try and hope... Some pictures succeed more, some less...
@helenhall Thank you, Helen, for your nice visit and so many favs...!
The tree - yes, it is acacia. Most trees in this dry area are acacia trees. The thorns are very sharp. I tore my t-shirt during a hike.
You are a master of photography and mountain climbing as well. It is a beautiful shot! Personally for me, I need the green of trees and the blue of water to feed my soul. Thus, Lake Tahoe or the beaches in California do nicely. The desert is a place for a shorter visit to see the incredible animals!
@gardenfolk Yes, everywhere there are beauties. But I like to live where I am at home: surrounded by green meadows, forests, streams and lakes. To see, feel and smell this, fulfills me.
Thank you very much for your kind visit!
So wonderful to see you!!! Of course you would find beauty everywhere - mountains, deserts, you name it :) but it is your strength, to find beauty everywhere and in everything... and in turn you share it with us! How enriching... :)
@kerosene Thank you, Caroline, for your nice visit!
The beauty... yes, it is everwhere. But I also feel the ugliness, the bad, the evil... Sometimes I think I should do more against suffering in this world. There is so much injustice.
It is nice that you are there. I enjoy this very much. Thank you!
