Several times I had the experience of a bush fire right next to the road. But I could not stay long for a photo. Such a bush fire can spread quickly and it was too risky for me. It is scary when the smoke darkens the sun and you hear the fire cracking and rushing. I saw charred bodies of kangaroos on burnt earth - but I did not photograph them, I had inhibitions.
You are so good at portraying the fear and power that arises from the elements. And indicating your respect for such. This must have been a frightening experience.
We in the Western US have so many forest fires. I feel dreadful for people who lose their homes, but even more, I think of the animals that cnnot escape and what a terrible death that would be. While this is an interesting photo, and one that marks the story of your travels, no bodies, please... Your choice was fully correct.
Bushfires wreak havoc every summer in Australia, so pleased you didn't linger here too long, they're so unpredictable. And many thanks for no charred remains too.
@helenhall Yes, it was exciting. On this trip, I first saw bush fire, right next to the road. But bushfires are obviously normal in this area, they are part of the ecosystem. Very often I saw trees with black trunks: They did not die in the fire, but sprouted again. Once I saw a tree that was totally black (obviously from the fire). He had no leaves, nothing green; But he was covered all over with red flowers. He blossomed out of full body. The triumph of life.
Thank you all for your so nice comments!
I had quite a respect for this fire.
