I am now at the end of the glacier and look back. I have come from the direction where the sun is currently. On the right side the wall of rock drops off almost vertically into the depth. The sun rose above the distant mountain range on the far left of the picture. Behind me the rocks of the mountain Dachstein begin. I will now put on the climbing set.
The lines give the image a lot of depth and the people are great for scale, that must be a huge area! Beautiful light for a black and white capture too.
I really like how you have caught this morning sunlight on this Jerome. Unusual for you to show the signs of human activity both in the tracks in the foreground and in those wonderfully small people in the background. Of course, another glorious shot, with the monochrome as a reminder of the harshness of the environment.
Many thanks for sharing your love of the mountains with all of us Jerome, you're showing me sights I'd never dream of, let alone see, otherwise. I looked at this shot for ages, so much to see and to take in. Sheer magic.
I love the depth of tone in those rocks - and even on the glacier which I presume is white. Love the small figures too, to give such a good sense of scale.
