Incredible shot Jerome, I can certainly see what you mean about the wicked weather that can happen up there. I do hope you were somewhere safe when you took this shot.
@golftragic You're right, Marnie - in such weather you should quickly find a safe place. You must know that I left in the early morning in bright sunshine - and the sky remained cloudless all day long. However, at noon a very strong wind came up, which whipped up the loose snow. There was a heavy blizzard that darkened the sun. The wind kicked the hard ice crystals in my face - it's good if you have a loop scarf that you can pull over your neck and face and glasses to protect your eyes; In addition, a warm hat and jacket with hood, also gloves.
The weather in the high alpine area can change quickly - you should be prepared for difficult weather conditions. Photography is also very problematic - if sharp ice crystals hit the lens in a violent wind, the glass can be damaged - not unlike a sandstorm in the desert.
As uncomfortable as this change in the weather can be, the natural impressions can be as fascinating. Nature can offer a unique spectacle in such circumstances.
@louannwarren Lou Ann - my pictures are always just fragments, small parts of a staging of the mountains. As you rightly say, you have to add the wind's voices on the mountain, the snow crystals whirling through the air and blowing at you, the trudging through the snow,...
@jerome Your eloquent and vivid description scared the daylights out of me Jerome, I've never been a hiker, let alone skier or mountain-climber (bad knees) but do know to be very respectful when near or on mountains. As I'm sure you know, Australia only has a handful of peaks that can legitimately be classed as mountains, but every so often someone does something silly and makes the news headlines. But I didn't realise about those ice crystals, they sound very serious stuff to do that kind of damage. Please do stay safe, I'd miss you.
@golftragic Thanks, Marnie, for your amicable words! You are right in any case - you should respect the mountains. Most accidents in the mountains happen through hubris and ignorance.
@jerome You are undoubtedly correct Jerome, indeed I think one could probably say most accidents anywhere happen for the same reasons. The key point is that one can't mess with mountains and their weather and hope to get away with it.

Thank you for your nice comments!
It is a bit uncomfortable under such conditions in the mountains. On the other hand, you also experience a special spectacle.
