The first of many

Hopefully! The first butterfly of my season, a Peacock, looking a bit ragged after a long sleep.

Not seen many butterflies in the garden yet either. But flies, midges and some big bumblebees, and the odd hover-fly have been active.
However hoping for better things as the weather warms. Recently planted in the garden 4 Alder Buckthorn bare rooted bushes, as I see plenty of Brimstones every year, plus 4 Crab Apples and Mistletoe seeds too.
Let’s see what they bring in.

That’s a very encouraging message and if you are as lucky as I have been, Mrs Brimstone will surely visit you. I was given a little Alder Buckthorn with one pupa in 2016 and I’ve raised Brimstones every year since, recording the entire metamorphosis. Good luck and hope to see the results of your nursery.
