I was hoping to capture the caldera at night with stars, but it was raining. There were still way too many rude people jarring for spots to photograph from who seemed totally oblivious to photographer's etiquette but at least I managed to capture this. The exposure is so tricky!

This is so pretty! I think it is hard to get a night without cloud cover here. When we were there we went 2 different nights and it was so foggy. Still cool to see.
Oh woweee, what a sight Jane. This is a terrific sight - in both senses. The rain may have done you a good turn by dispersing the light from the caldera and heightening the fiery effect. I love this shot, it's a beauty. Fav. PS there are far too many rude people in this world!
