Best on black. The place where we were camped has places where the South Sister mountain is visible....most easily from a kayak which wouldn't work for a long exposure of course...but the Milky Way wasn't in the right place in the sky. I did like the diagonal line of the trees creating an angle with the Milky way though. We've had skies covered with overcast clouds much of the Summer at home so it was a treat to get blessed with a sky full of twinkling stars while we were camping.

What a lovely sight to enjoy at night - and you captured it so well for us to enjoy, too. I've never been able to try one of these shots so I extra enjoy yours.
