Sandpipers At the North Jetty

These little guys are endangered and there has been a lot of effort locally to protect them. They build nests in the sand dunes that can easily be destroyed by dogs, hikers, dune buggies. Cayenne, my dog, is sad that she has to be on a leash when we walk to the beach, but I am happy when I see them.
I went off in search of shore birds yesterday so will be posting more in the next days. Thanks for being such good friends. I'm always tickled to see your responses and photos.
Love your POV - nice commentary too.

Great capture, Jane...if they're anything like the sandpipers we've got, they're extremely difficult to photograph, always on the run!

I didn't realize they were endangered. I remember seeing a lot of them when I was a kid. Thanks for an informative post.
