I was trying to do something with a shadow from the flame as I had found a neat quote that inspired me. But once I set the shots up I got interested in my tripod and playing with the settings on my camera. So another candle picture. It was just to dismally gray outside to go out and take pictures.
Don't beat yourself up Joan - this shot has a nice warm intimate feel to it; cosy and welcoming - I like it a lot. And, like me, you're learning everyday, which is, after all, why we do this, no?
@vignouse This was fun to do. As I moved the focus point around I saw the picture brighten and darken. I found the wb and fixed it for incandescent, played with iso and shutter speed. My disappointment was not getting shadows. Oh, well, baby steps and keep experimenting.
I would assume then that you are using spot or centre weighted metering rather than evaluative metering which would have given the same exposure regardless of the focus point - unless you changed the composition of course.
@vignouse Richard, I would have to check but I think you are right. But when I moved the little box in the viewer around I could see the lighting change before I took the picture. I didn't ever know I could do that. Learning, Learning, Learning.
@vignouse AH, that's the correct word, the liveview. Tired tonight. Went to work 2 hours early to do statements. And I was to lazy to go look up the word.
