Walking about history

I went back to the mill yards I visited in the spring in the early morning light. I think than I expressed an unease at being in such an isolated place alone. So I dragged my nephew along (bribed him with a meal). We started at #1 pond and you have seen those pictures but now to a shot in the mill yard. Appreciated you support as I experimented with a couple of shots. This one is probably a little more straight forward. We saw a duck (which I got pictures of) and a heron(? which I didn't). Came home from work early feeling under the weather. Starting to come around thank goodness. But glad I had one I could post. If you look closely you should see that this bridge was built in 1924. Hoping my sister sees the possibilities for birding when she comes next year.
@ladygator we had a discussion about old buildings and feeling safe when we visited. This is the mills I eluded to. Having camera equipment it makes me feel safer to have my nephew along. Plus he's a good spotter.

Hi Joan, I like the way the chimney line goes through the photo from top to bottom in the reflection.
I am the same about going out & about on my own, I would rather have someone with me. Always good to stay safe these days. x

@janiskay There is a new road through the mill from High to Emery St. This is closer to High Street. We would never have been allowed down in here as kids. This is the Mousam river. It would have crossed Washington and come down through the Mills. Does that help. If you do satellite view in mapquest and look for Weaver drive I think you will get a good idea of it's location.

Another interesting photo. So much fun, discovering new places, especially if you're playing tourist in your own city. Nice long reflection of the tower.

When my sky don't pop blue or the photo seems cold. I then like to make it black and white. Just me.. I don't seem to take photos when the sun don't shine.

@wildernesswillie I tried it in bw but liked the fall colors so changed back plus a little busy for bw for my tastes. I did run the cooling action on it to bring out some blue in the sky. I could have blended in a blue sky, but like wispy look. But to each his own. How awful if we all posted the same pictures looking just a like. Remember when the sky you are seeing isn't blue doesn't mean your heart can't be happy.

Very different view from the last time you were there... I think I like the gritty reality best so perhaps another visit is in the offing?

Lovely shot. Not many chimneys like that around any more.

This doesn't even look abandoned. I like the wispy blue in the sky. Reminds me of an old postcard or a watercolor .

Love the way nature is starting to take over again - the autumnal colours are looking good and good use of the reflections Joan

@vignouse Always just say because I liked the gritty one better too. But I got carried away with playing with my histogram and by the time I got down there had lost the sun on the buildings. Plus fall is such a lovely season and so short. I didn't take this as criticism but preference. Just like my preference for the leave in the clover picture. But there is a lot more to investigate here. Just seeing it with snow.
