@pamknowler has the most adorable dog named Finlay. So when I saw this dog my grandnieces were walking of course I had to grab a shot.
But I also want to use this for my get-pushed challenge by @rachelwithey - My challenge for you is to look back at one of the photos you took in the first three months of posting on 365 and retake it, or something like it, using all your new skills, knowledge, equipment, software etc .
The picture I am "redoing" is one of Two. http://365project.org/joansmor/365/2013-12-04
Back then I shot a lot of pictures with my Point and shot, I shot in jpeg, I shot in auto and did almost no post processing and had big problems with focus and composition - almost everything centered. I now shot almost exclusively with my D90, in RAW, manual with ISO on auto, and process almost everything in LR and then often in Fussion HDR and this photo has the dogs nose in the intersection of the upper and far left line, also I love the focus on the tongue. I used LR and a radial filter to try to draw attention to his face. Phew! Now I was shooting with my long lens which makes this far from perfect because I went out to shot ducks. But I think it is an improvement. (Shhhh! don't tell Two).
One last thing tonight. Wednesday is Wishbone Awareness day - a day to bring awareness to the disease 0steogenesis Imperfecta or brittle bone disease. A friend's husband suffers from this and she saw my picture for Autism Awareness so I promised to do one for Wishbone Day. I am tagging my picture wishbone and using the color yellow. If you would like to join I am sure there are lots of people who would love this.
He's adorable Joan. Your skills are wonderful....I need to challenge myself more, but I find I am very lazy. I shoot a lot in auto because I take such spontaneous shots so often....I do love the light and comp on this shot of this adorable dog. Well done.
I thought he was Finlay when I saw the shot. Interesting processing information and also on Wishbone/yellow awareness activities. You gave m the idea for today's shot with your comment on the rose yesterday.
Oh Finlay would love to have this little dog as a playmate! Such a little cutie! Thank you Joan for the thought! I like the details you give on your processing - what a long way you have come - and isn't it satisfying that you can now get the shots you want! A lovely capture with great light and your composition is spot on! I am off to show Finlay his new friend!
This is great Joan. Love the POV and the humour in it. I have a possible yellow photo for tomorrow, off with my camera a bit later on to see if I can get anything a bit better.
Love the tongue Joan.
