Stopped for a snack along the rim walk of the Grand Canyon. This is one of my favorite hikes, about 7.8 miles. I find true peace walking the rim and I usually spot something new each time. This time I spotted where California Condors nest, even though we didn't spot any actual Condors this hike.( http://www.mygrandcanyonpark.com/california-condors/)
What a great view. That link was so interesting to read! I had no idea they were in such a bad state of decline....how sad, but how amazing too that people have managed to save them! I would love to see one, but I guess that would involve a trip to your country sometime!
@kali66 Thank you, I am ashamed to admit that I didn't get the Grand Canyon for the first couple of years that I lived here but now I realize how amazing it is. Each time I go, I see something different and new and do say thanks to the Universe for letting me witness it.
@dorsethelen This wondrous place is filled with a huge number of "wow' spots, taking the day to hike the trail made the difference since I got to stop and 'listen' to the Canyon.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond It is amazing, but come in the fall, October when most of the other people are gone. Spend a couple of days so you can see it very early or late in the day to see the sunrise or sunset. Most just come and see the vastness and then don't take the time to really see the beauty.
@megpicatilly Thank you, we were about 1/2 way into our hike and my toes were complaining a tad. My legs were okay but the toes had just about enough. There really isn't many not good places to take a shot except unstable places.
@jmdspeedy Thank you so much, The particular spot, The Abyss is a lovely area, it is a semi circle inlet from the canyon with a rather shear drop off the edge. The hike along the south rim is mostly flat with several unpaved sections which allows a very special experience of the canyon, not the average tourist stop.
@yrhenwr Thank you so much, I am so grateful that we live so near to this magnificent park.
@stephanies I walked with a friend who knows her birds. She pointed out the nest area and that the Condors have very large numbers so we can spot them too, They have 9 foot wing span- I have never seen one and would love to.
@jerome Thank you ever so much for the fav. The Canyon as the locals call it, grows on one. I hope you get to hike it - rim to rim. I'm content with staying on the top and just being engrossed by its splendor.
