Served Well...

This worn out and tired rocking chair left on the curb caught my eye. It has finally given up and waits to be collected then scrapped. I have always enjoyed rocking chairs myself. I hope that whoever owned this chair learned things while rocking back and forth over its lifetime.
I recently came across a quote about worry and rocking chairs from the late comedian Erma Bombeck, "It gives you something to do but never gets you anywhere." I believe that to have a place to sit and contemplate or cogitate about life is almost essential.
I like the composition and the shadow. We bought one like this when first married

Oh poor thing- yes served a good life I think. I spent many an hour in a rocking chair with my sons when they were infants. I find them very comforting.

I really like the composition with the chair being so far in the foreground.

Totally agree with your words and love the shadow and leading line away from the rocker who has done her time

@quietpurplehaze We have a monthly pickup of items and so many times good things are put out which are often claimed by others. I am glad to see that this was well used.

@olivetreeann I too love a good rock now and then but also I use my hanging chair- just float away the issues....

@bubblequeen Thank you a great deal and it might just be very true.

@taffy Thank you so much. I usually walk earlier but at this time of the afternoon its shadows were much more interesting.

@jernst1779 You are so kind, thank you so much, appreciate the fav too.

@dustyloup Thank you so very much.

@granagringa Thank you, I was really trying to get the full shadow.

@jgpittenger I like that this is a she, still holding herself together with dignity and grace.

@amyk Thank you, I were more industrious, I might rescue her.

Oh dear, some days I feel a little like that. Well spotted.

Lovely capture ...

This would have been perfect for my “artwork"

So interesting as to why it is placed in this particular place to be taken away. The tonality of the scene is accentuated by this chair. I might have desaturated the green bit to emphasize the tones here overall.

EB’s quote is so wonderfully pragmatic! TY

@golftragic Me too. This falling apart if part of life that some days I could simply do without.

@pdulis Thank you so much.

@domenicododaro There is a certain beauty in it.

@jyokota Our city has a monthly ( or so) pickup of bulk items and its really surprises me what is placed on the curb. I hadn't though about doing many edits with a cell shot but I will look into it. Thanks for the tip.

@s4sayer Most thankful for the fav, EB was a very funny lady, so down to earth.

@ninaganci Truly grateful for the fav, thank you kindly. Hope they were good stories.

I looked it up on my phone. If you subscribe to Lightroom you can import a photo from your camera roll into the Lightroom mobile. Then select edit. Then color. Then tap on the little color wheel on upper right and you can adjust by color. If you want to try it.
