It’s hard to believe that just minutes - moments really - before this photo was taken, Diego was crying as if the end was nigh. Tears were streaming down his face and the sobbing was so intense I thought perhaps he’d actually hurt himself somehow and I hadn’t noticed it. Yet all that caused his upset was my taking away a broom we use to sweep near the cat box because said broom was coming waaaay too close to going in his mouth! My method, with tantrums and injuries alike, is when the tears start flowing, immediately change the environment around the child, so here you see Diego in a place he’s not typically in, playing with items he doesn’t typically have access to. And while I’m no expert in child behavior, I honestly cannot see a tear on this kid’s face in this shot, so I’m going call this a parenting win.
