Despite a trying week with too much to do and a really aggravating cough that then turned in to a head cold as well it's been a fab weekend. We've had old friends visiting from our PhD days and it's been like putting on a pair of comfortable old slippers. When I first arrived at St John's I was given an enormous room in a beautiful house on Madingley Road along with 12 others. We made some great friendships in that house and had some fun times and so it was great to have a third of the house together for a couple of days along with spouses who practically lived in the same place! We are doubly invigorated to arrange a get together in the summer for the those who couldn't make it.
We went for a drink in the College bar after dinner - I must say it was very tame compared with 'our day'.
I've been suffering from a similarly aggravating chest cough for around a week now. I think it's going around. I like the reflections of the dark doors on the wet flagstones outlining the walkway.
Great to be able to catch up with old friends! Mine are all over the place and we have generally lost touch! It looks wet on this pavement and that is good for the reflection of that beautiful building!
I agree that students seem to have got quite boring. Although I did see a mod/punk with a massive red mohican on Saturday night so there is the odd interesting young person about. Wondering why the pavement is wet inside...
@fueast If you look carefully you'll see the horizontal snow - weirdly if I turned round and took a photo the other way there was obviously a blizzard under way.
@judithg Ah yes that's not proper snow. Just the annoying sleety stuff. We had that in Leeds - and why I headed over the Haworth for some proper stuff.
those wet slabs are ace
