After a physical and ill-disciplined (not our boys) game on Saturday it was a pleasure to watch a much more elegant match against our local rivals last night. And we won and are through to the last 16 of the national competition. Yet another headless hockey player - this time a particularly athletic and naturally gifted player. We nearly ended up with an actual headless hockey player as a ball popped up at speed and caught one in the face - it's less nerve wracking than watching rugby from that point of view but stick and/or ball injuries can be really nasty. Luckily it missed eyes and teeth but I would have cried a lot (he didn't!) The floodlights were particularly challenging photographically (though actually I took some standing still shots which I really like of the boys looking companionable) so I've gone with this where the graininess and motion blur give it an old school newspaper look (IMO!)
This does have a vintage press look to it. Well done!
Congratulations to Adam and his teammates for advancing in the playoffs. Do hope the injured player is recovering nicely. Ouch!! With all the sticks and balls flailing and flying on a hockey field, I would be dressed head to toe in padding/armour. ☺
