We were given a very generous gift voucher for Primavera for our anniversary/birthdays and also some money to spend from friends and relatives so today we went shopping. It sells all sorts of art work from textiles to painting to glass ware to sculpture to pottery. Last time I went in (a while ago) it didn't have the upstairs rooms at the front of the shop open but while I was browsing around Nigel was elbowing me and saying, 'photo'. Makes up for yesterday when he told me about a great shot I'd just missed! The shop is located directly opposite from King's College - about as prime a site as you can get and mercifully still the domain of independent retailers. Eventually we came away with a lovely set of plates to go with some bowls we already have (the potter is elderly and has stopped firing so now is the time to act). We also got a gorgeous casserole dish. I wanted the jug by the same lady but Nigel has an 'ornament phobia' and couldn't see its purpose despite me saying 'Pimms' repeatedly. It would make a lovely vase - I might go back by myself and buy it!
Beautiful! And such a great spot. ..........I found some photos of our holiday in Cambridge about 8 years ago on my MP3 player last night!!! So want to come back and visit your lovely city!
Yes, get the vase for the Pimms!. I'm glad that Ray is not the only husband who is '365-trained'. He spotted yellow crocuses which I missed the other day.
It might be every day for you to look out the window and see this but to us (me) It is delightful to see this here! Nigel should realise that the secret to a great Pimms is serving it in a colourful and elegant jug! You have to have a jug to be able to put the ice into it!
Love the place, bought some special stuff there when I lived and worked in Cambridge. If the jug is stuck in your mind you should go for it! Nice to see this view again.
just read your comments on Pats maket and fur coat shot @happypat.
I see the similariity between Preston and Cambridge from a 365 viewfinder. Great colours in the stonework
I am so slow at commenting tonight I have only just reached your photo! I am ready for a visit to Cambridge some time.....haven't been to my sisters yet but might get chance in the next couple of months otherwise it's going to be later in the year! @sarah19 would be great to meet up Sallie!
Your pots sound just beautiful....I love a good pot that you are proud to bring onto the table! Go back & buy the jug Judith, once it's gone it's gone & when the summer comes & you have no jug to put the Pimms in you will regret it!
Lovely look through the window too...goods spotting!
Beautiful framing with this shot, it doesnt take away from the grandeur of the architect. The sun catchers just add that little bit of colour. You had a voucher so you actually saved money which you can now spend on the jug!
Love the tones in this - and the reflection in the display.
Lovely shot and lovely story.
