I cycled into town to get a birthday present for Nigel's mum this afternoon. It was quite interesting running the gauntlet of the Dalai Lama protest and counter-protest. The protesters were on one side of the road singing a 'Stop lying' mantra and the counter-protesters were outside the Trinity Hall building that housed former Archbishop Runcie and the Dalai Lama and their guests. I don't know who's right or wrong (haven't read the leaflets) but the protesters seemed to be largely white middle aged women and the counter protesters were all Tibetan. They told me that the protesters are not only wrong but also fanatical... Anyway - on the way home I just missed the great man himself but there were an awful lot of happy faces outside the building after meeting him.
The green bike is outside the Troll beads shop (whatever they are!) - I was pleased about the assistant standing there.
You are all Tibetan with your green image, we have yellow bikes still up for the tour of Britain cycle race. I have no idea what the protest is about, we don't get much news like that up here. I would love to see the Dalai Lama.
Very interesting photo with lots of different angles.
What a great find....you have captured so very much in this picture.....the assistant standing there center stage, the old ladies with their shopping bags reflected to the left, that beautiful light fixture inside and the signs outside, and of course that fabulous green bike pulling it all together. FAV, for sure!! I wonder what the protesters were so incensed about...
Intriguing story and wonderful shot. Love that those having spent time with His Holiness the Dalai Lama seemed happy and blissful. Too bad the protesters weren't feeling the same. ☺
If I were into jewelry, I would be all about trollbeads. Cute stuff.
