There have been so many fun shots of Danbo across the 365 site, and I was experiencing a bit of Danbo-envy. So my husband gave me a gift: Cubebot! He plays well with Danbo (as evident in photos taken with Taffy's Danbo) and he, too, has Japanese roots. Like me.
The Davidweeksstudio.com website describes him this way: "Inspired by the Japanese Shinto Kumi-ki puzzles, these wooden sculptures are a non-traditional take on the toy robot by joining ancient Japanese traditions with contemporary toy culture. Their sturdy hardwood frames can hold hundreds of poses and when playtime is over, they each neatly fold up into unassuming cubes." I wonder if more Cubebots will appear across 365, and from various countries?
Today, I learned how to make a collage on my computer (I had done them on an iPad using templates before), how to create and lock low opacity backgrounds, and how to import jpg into Aperture. Now I can go back to the "holes" I had left in my calendar as place holders for special collages I want to make that don't fit a template!
PS Many thanks to Carl at the Apple Store who has such a creative eye and helped me figure out how to place the photos to get the effect of Cubebot's arms creating a visual puzzle cube.
Great creativity. A while ago you were asking about the difference between a collage and a montage. From an (ex)art teacher's point of view a collage means to assemble by glueing (French: coller, to stick, glue) and a montage is usually a group of photographs assembled together (French: monter, to put up, to assemble). Hope this helps.
