The Hidden Tiny Saw-Whet Owl

So small. So sweet. My friend is an owl-whisperer and can spot them even when nobody else can. He points, and I blindly shoot toward a tree. And then when I got home and zoomed into the tree, I saw -- this owl!
You will have to point this out to me. I love owls!

@maggiemae -- It's just slightly above being centered. There's a branch that goes diagonally across the image and the owl is perched on it. The tail feathers are a lighter color and might be easier to spot. I love owls, too! I'd never photographed them before half a year ago and now I have photographed four species, and in multiple settings.

Definitely needs to be seen on black and even at that -- he's quite the bird whisperer!!

You really have to be keen observer to see that disguised fluff ball!

Oh - that took a bit of finding!

Wow, it does blend in with the tree. You would really have to look hard to find. Great shot.

@jgpittenger - I wish you could! I've seen 6 owl species in the last half year, and my friend has led me to 4 of them. Tonight we watched (and failed at photographing) short-eared owls flying around in a field, dipping down to hunt and then soaring through the sky.
