Sailing Class
25 June 2014 -- 176/365
Warren, Rhode Island

I went to the Town Wharf in Warren since I haven't taken any photos from that location since early winter. Just as I arrived, I noticed this sailing class speeding upriver. They had an extremely strong tailwind coupled with an incoming tide and were really making good time. Now, the direction they're sailing ends up in 100 Acre Cove, but they somehow must navigate back down river - against the tide and against that brutal wind - to circle Bullocks Point and head back up the Providence River to India Point. My guess is the afternoon's lesson will be all about how to tack in high wind.

Post processing started with a neutral greyscale filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, details, boost black, and boost white. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.

Here's the high res version in Smugmug: http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2014/i-cRqVmxw/0/XL/2014%2006%2025_0021%20copy-XL.jpg
This is really sharp in b&w.

@lilminimonka My only experience with sailing was in my high school days. We managed to pack 5 of us on a Sunfish (a little 2 person sailboat) on Lake Winnepesauke in New Hampshire. Tons of fun until that thunderstorm rolled in! lol
