Mind Games

I just finished watching a re-run of my all-time favorite Star Trek: Next Generation episodes. It's a two-parter titled "Chain of Command." In the episode, Picard had been captured by Cardassians and was being tortured. Part of the mind games being played was an attempt to force him to admit he saw 5 lights on a panel when there were only four. (It's a concept taken from Orwell's 1984, in fact.) I'm reminded of the episode everytime I turn on the four vanity lights above the mirror in my bathroom. Thinking they'd make an interesting b&w, I decided to go for this simple composition today.
Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, and boost black. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
