Finally the day came when Lofty was in a 'standalone' tree - one that had no branches touching another. This kind of tree is perfect for a koala trap. It is a tarpaulin ring that is set up around the tree with an opening into a fox cage trap.
Thanks for putting this series up. Amazing how much work goes into this.

@888rachel Thanks Rachel, I've put up and pulled this trap down a few times now and I'm getting pretty quick at it! It's also far less stressful for them to be trapped than trying to get one out of a tree. Of course if they are high up in a large tree it's quite simply impossible without a trap.
