I happened to get this photo yesterday and thought that @s4sayer would particularly like the way Bullet is clearly showing us that koalas have a thumb on their foot. Notice no claw on the thumb. Then to keep the awesome nature weirdness going, you will notice the second toe is actually toe two and three fused together making a double claw that they use to try and remove ticks.
Marvellous critters aren't they? Thank you for the many really lovely comments on my photos.
@madeinnl if you look closely at the branches he is sleeping in you will see little puncture marks everywhere - yep that's from claws. The first thing when checking to see if koalas use an area is to look for those punctures and long scratches on the trees. When they climb, they did the claws in to hold on :) so yah, don't mess with koala jim!
@s4sayer always aim to please ;)
Some monkeys have thumb-like toes. But no other animal has two thumbs on their hands - six thumbs in total! you could almost say they are 'all thumbs' hahaha they are quite fascinating tho, so many strange things about their makeup
Part 2..previous comment was based on the feed, so only saw the rest of your narrative when looking at your page. Delighted and thrilled to read your supplementary info. TY!
Great cute shot.
Lovely capture.
