Named to remember Notre Dame. Haven't seen a new koala move through in months, no idea why but koala movements everywhere have been a little quiet.
He's quite a stunner. I must say with Jordan chasing Bullet around and now this fella, all the young koalas have either gone into awesome hiding that even I can't find, or have literally fled for the moment.
When you see a sleeping koala in a tree it seems like they are unaware of everything around them and just peaceful. But there is always much more going on than meets the eye, and we wouldn't guess the half of it!
@kchuk he's not a juvenile like the youngsters here as he looks to be at least 6-7 kg. that's about as far as I can guess - haven't been able to see his scent gland which can indicate a little (if it's a big wet sticky gland he's really mature, if not he just may not be an alpha or may be young). Ageing koalas is only accurate by checking the wear on their teeth. I did ask him but he wouldn't answer, muttered something about it being rude to ask hahahaha
@fbailey there are 10 'regulars' - this does change as youngsters grow and move on, and occasionally new ones move in.
Jordan, Maxine, Dewdrop, Stevie, Frankie, Racee, Phoenix, Bullet, Krissy, Summer. Interesting it just happens that at present 5 boys and 5 girls. But 3 of the boys are youngsters so I know they won't all be able to stay around. The 2 young girls are not guaranteed to stay either of course, though I'm hoping at least Dewdrop will as she is pretty much here every single day. Time always tells :)
