a little break by koalagardens

a little break

Stevie is on a short break as Nick (her joey) is becoming independent and is in a thick patch of leaves apart from her.
Thank you for the awesome comments and questions on my photos.
Simply gorgeous, love the furry ears.

@ludwigsdiana I swear she has the biggest ears I've seen o a koala yet - and they don't look terribly big in this shot hahaha

She must be a very good mother indeed.

She looks a little thin to me. I know she was enjoying her time alone.

@seacreature well noted - I can often pick it is Stevie as she is a slightly different shade to all the others here :)

@louannwarren interesting you comment on that - I often think she looks like she has less body condition (we score that on a koala at the shoulders). She often looks like she has a slight 'poverty line' which is denting across the forehead too.
And yet, she is most often the highest up in the tree tops of every koala here, and is raising her second joey.
I've been watching her here since she arrived as a youngster around 2.5 kg, about 3 years ago.
So I believe she is fine - but I love that you looked closely enough to notice and observe and comment.
I will also note that raising a joey is hard work, and doing it in the worst drought we have known is even harder work!

I like this contrast of strong sharp claws with the softness of her fur.
