@kchuk yes someone will - now we get to wait and watch as that all unfolds! I suspect it could be quiet over winter, but around July - August as males start to think about breeding again, and the dispersion is happening, it could get very interesting here! I have no idea what will happen but amuse myself with all kinds of scenarios :)
@vignouse Hugo may be a contender. Then a host of males that either haven't been here for some time, or that will come along as breeding season starts up. So many variables that I don't even know of yet :) hey baby it's a wild world
He does pose well. I must remember to pop some corn come July then sit back to watch the Koala soap opera. Even if there is an Alpha male, do some of the other males get to mate too, or does the head honcho have a haram and keep all the females to himself?
@gardencat because they are loners, within a colony that might cover a large distance, there are always opportunities to try and sneak in a mating for the lower ranking males. however, the females will only mate with a very strong male and will fight the lower ranking ones off, so they can, but they need to be worthy and willing to work hard for it ;)
