the koalas eat a range of different eucalypts here and the leaves are quite different - this one has quite thin but long leaves. I often wonder if the really fat leaves cut the edges of their mouths as I'm sure they would mine! I guess not as I've never seen evidence of it, but I wonder ...
@gardencat they do, and you can smell differences when crushing the leaves with your hand. they do have preferences, and the individuals biome plays a role too. One day I plan to do an educational video all about this very thing as it is a really complex topic and fascinating
Love the light on Matilda. I love the smell of them. My grandmother used to stuff the dog’s mattress with them because it was supposed to repel insects.
I would think they have different tastes just like Romaine lettuce tastes different from Iceberg (which has very little taste at all!). Nice shot of the Queen!
