aussie christmas

Commonly known as christmas beetles, they eat eucalyptus leaves and as you can see are fluorescent and shiny. There are about 35 different varieties, I have fond childhood memories of being fascinated by them in the city! They sure do much a lot of leaf though ...
What neat looking beetles! Super macro - you can even see the hairs on the tail end of the upper one.

Great close up, lovely looking beetles, I hope they leave some food for the koalas.

There's a bit of scoffing going on there! Nice capture of these greedy beetles.

Your Christmas Beetles closely resemble our Demented Flying Billiard Ball, the Cockchafer.
