These birds are quite tiny, usually weighing 20-30 grams and this little female would be down on the 20 end for sure. Thank you for enjoying all the other wildlife on my property with me - the koalas are one thing, but the variety of wildlife here is astounding as I find more every week :)
Wow he's so cool! He sounds like he is similar to a humming bird in size? I love your pics and it always amazes me that these amazing creatures are so accessible!
@elatedpixie I'm not sure of the size of hummingbirds, maybe bigger, and they look bigger because of the long tail. @jodies they are really hard to capture, I have to photograph them from quite a distance and even though I see them every day, I only get a chance from a distance now and then :)
@rickster549 they are so small, the first time I photographed one I was astounded when I looked at the image on my computer screen to see the detail of the colours and patterns as I couldn't see them with my eye (and of course I am never very close to them)
