The other side of Jordan in care thankfully eating well. He is still with us, but not out of the woods and in an ICU room for a couple more days til we see if his red blood count is improving.
If not he may need a blood transfusion.
Still he is a trooper and has won all the hearts I think.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond It was horrible dealing with it at the roadside for sure. I have to say however the old vet nurse and researcher part of me is now enlivened by the fact that he has become such an unusual and interesting case. I have not slept well however, and I am trying to stay pragmatic. I've had a couple of little weepy moments, but this is what we do when working with wildlife, there are many very tough moments and situations.
Day at a time ... thank you for asking Jackie :)
It tugs at my heart in the circumstances to see Jordan in low key albeit done beautifully ! It symbolises where he is at the moment - lets hope it will be Jordan in high key very soon ! xx
It must be difficult to be professional when he is a vital part of your Koala family. Hopefully he will respond well to his treatment and be back home soon
Oh no! So sorry to hear about Jordan's accident but glad he is getting the treatment he needs. Thank goodness he has you looking after him. Both of you take care!!!
I do hope he responds to the less invasive treatment and recovers without needing a transfusion. Does this now put you on alert for this same parasite in other members of the group or is it likely to be a one off?
@vignouse they harvest the blood from healthy koalas that die in at the hospital - so it is not something they have lot of sitting about, however, fortunately transfusions are also pretty rare!
