flies and fungi go together, especially when it is the basidiomycete type which has a disgusting smell if you get close. that's what attracts the flies to it, and of course they then kindly spread the spores. it looks more like something out of the ocean, but it's quite common on the property as soon as it rains here. I'm fond of it, but never touch it ewwwww
Such an unusual and pretty fungi , yes it does look as if it belongs to the depth of the ocean !! - who would believe it smells so bad , but the flies seem to love it !
